Behavior Care, Inc., is a company that provides intensive applied behavior support for students with disabilities when they present severe challenging behaviors. In addition, the Board Certified Behavior Analyst works in coaching and guiding teachers/staff on implementation of strategies and techniques to replace dangerous behaviors.

APPROVAL OF CONTRACT FOR EDUCATIONAL SERVICES BETWEEN CARLTON PALMS EDUCATIONAL CENTER, INC., AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDADescription Carlton Palms Educational Center, Inc., is a residential treatment center that provides services for severely disabled students. Sarasota County currently has a student being served at Carlton Palms with non-educational costs being provided through other sources. This contract will provide a percentage of FTE to support the educational component of the program for this student.

APPROVAL OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTYDescription The purpose of this agreement is to provide accelerated learning mechanisms for qualified high school students on an individual basis to attend the University of South Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (USF). The Florida Legislation has defined a variety of options intended to shorten the time necessary to complete the requirements of a high school diploma, postsecondary certificate or degree and broaden the scope curricular options available for secondary students.

APPROVAL OF FIRST AMENDMENT TO REAL PROPERTY DEDICATION AGREEMENT AND ACCEPTANCE OF SPECIAL WARRANTY DEEDDescription On September 20, 2016 the Board approved a Real Property Dedication Agreement with Manasota Beach Ranchlands, LLLP in which the Board was to receive a parcel of approximately 60 acres of fronting on West Villages Parkway in exchange for educational system impact credit fees of $3,650,000. These documents further that Agreement by formally transferring a deed to the property of the Board and amends the Agreement to formally transfer the impact fee credit to Manasota.

16. APPROVAL OF COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDA, SRQLAX, INC., AND VENICE HIGH SCHOOL PARENT LACROSSE ORGANIZATION, INC. Description The purpose of this agreement is to provide Venice High School (VHS) student/athletes with the opportunity to participate in lacrosse as a Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) sanctioned sport beginning in 2017 at VHS as a pilot program (with the hope, but not the requirement, of expanding to additional schools in Sarasota county as need arises) in full compliance with all federal, state, and local laws applicable to Florida public schools, including but not limited to those laws providing for a free public education and requiring equal rights to participation regardless of gender. The initial term of this agreement will be three (3) years commencing on July 1, 2017. At the end of the initial term, the agreement may be renewed on an annual basis by mutual agreement of the parties on such terms as they agree in writing.

APPROVAL OF RANKING OF CERTIFIED AND QUALIFIED FIRMS FOR ROOFING CONSULTING SERVICES FOR A PERIOD OF THREE (3)-YEARSDescription The scope of work shall include, but not limited to, (1) evaluation of existing roofing and waterproofing systems, including associated structural and thermal insulation elements; (2) recommendations on prioritizing repairs or replacements; (3) development of budgets; (4) design and construction services as needed; and (6) perform annual roof inspections and maintain the District's roof asset management program, utilizing Roofer/Builder. On 5/23/2017, the Professional Services Selection Committee (PSSC) met to select certified and qualified firms for this continuing services contract. The PSSC has ranked them in accordance with School Board Policy #7.71. The estimated cost of these services for the three (3)-year period is $500,000.00. Funds for these services are available through individual project accounts.
Recommendation That the ranking of certified and qualified firms for Roofing Consulting Services, for a period of three (3)-years, be approved as presented and the Director of Construction Services be authorized to attempt negotiations with the two (2) top-ranked firms.

On 5/23/2017, the Professional Services Selection Committee (PSSC) met to select certified and qualified firms for this continuing services contract. The PSSC has ranked them in accordance with School Board Policy #7.71. The estimated cost of these services for the three (3)-year period is $200,000.00. Funds for these services are available through individual project accounts.
Recommendation That the ranking of certified and qualified firms for Land Surveying Consulting Services for a period of three (3)-years, be approved as presented and the Director of Construction Services be authorized to attempt negotiations with the two (2) top-ranked firms.

24. APPROVAL OF NON-EXCLUSIVE EASEMENT AT SUNCOAST TECHNICAL COLLEGE NORTH PORT BETWEEN THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDA AND THE CITY OF NORTH PORT UTILITIES DEPARTMENTDescription This easement will provide easements for the operation and maintenance of the water main and will also provide access to the utilities tying into said water main. This easement has been approved by the School Board attorney.

APPROVAL OF RANKING OF CERTIFIED AND QUALIFIED ENGINEERING FIRMS FOR PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION CONSULTING SERVICES FOR A PERIOD OF THREE (3)-YEARSDescription The scope of work on the individual owner-assigned professional engineering contracts are projects defined as those with a construction cost to vary per project, and may include, but are not limited to, plumbing systems, electrical systems, equipment replacements, duct replacements, indoor air quality upgrades, thermal energy storage systems and control systems. On 6/8/2017, the Professional Services Selection Committee (PSSC) met to select certified and qualified engineering firms for this continuing services contract. The PSSC has ranked them in accordance with School Board Policy #7.71. The estimated cost of these services for the three (3)-year period is $300,000.00. Funds for these services are available through individual project accounts.
Recommendation That the ranking of certified and qualified engineering firms for Professional Engineering Design and Construction Administration Consulting Services, for a period of three (3)-years, be approved as presented and the Director of Construction Services be authorized to attempt negotiations with the three (3) top-ranked firms.

26. APPROVAL AND/OR RATIFICATION OF CONSTRUCTION SERVICES' CHANGE ORDERSDescription The Construction Services' Change Orders are summarized on the enclosure for ease of review. These change orders collectively total a decrease of ($245,770.79) in gross contract dollars. Included in these change orders are ($244,589.51) credit for Direct Material Purchases; the corresponding Direct Material Purchase Orders of ($230,935.81) resulting in a net of $13,653.70 in sales tax savings.

APPROVAL OF UPDATE #5 TO THE 2017 ANNUAL CERTIFICATION OF PROFESSIONALS FOR CONSTRUCTION RELATED SERVICESDescription The recommended professional has submitted request for annual certification by the School Board to provide professional construction related services for Sarasota County Schools' projects. This submission is in accordance with School Board Policy #7.71. The initial list was Board approved on 1/3/2017 (Item #12). The newly added firm is identified in the enclosure at the end of the initial listing. Upon Board approval, the pertinent date from this submission will be incorporated to the existing list.

28. ACCEPTANCE OF CONSTRUCTION SERVICES' PROJECT COMPLETION AND APPROVAL OF FINAL PAYMENT TO CONTRACTOR FOR THE BRENTWOOD SECURITY DOORDescription All work has been completed. New Business31. APPROVAL OF THE NEW CHARTER CONTRACT BETWEEN SARASOTA MILITARY ACADEMY, INC. AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDADescription
The Governing Board of Sarasota Military Academy, Inc. has applied for a new charter incorporating Sarasota Military Academy (SMA) and Sarasota Military Academy Prep (SMA Prep) into one grades 6-12 school, which will be known as the Sarasota Military Academy. The consolidation of the two schools will increase efficiency and reduce expenses for SMA. The current SMA charter ends June 30, 2028. The current SMA Prep charter ends June 30, 2019. A new charter has been negotiated which combines the two contracts with a term ending on June 30, 2025.
Recommendation That the School Board approve the charter combining Sarasota Military Academy and Sarasota Military Academy Prep as presented.

This memorandum of understanding between the School Board of Sarasota County, Florida and Sarasota Military Academy, Inc. is to hold harmless the School Board as a result of the consolidation of the charter agreements for Sarasota Military Academy and Sarasota Military Academy Prep. This agreement will remain in effect for the duration of the charter.
